About Me
Ramblings of an Amateur Radio Operator

Hi. My name is Chris KO4KGA. I'm from Fort Lauderdale, Florida, USA. My wife and I are digital nomads. You can read a little about our story at twopluscrew.com.
I've long held an interest in getting my Ham license. In December 2020, I finally took my test - from Bolo Beach in Pangasinan, Philippines!
I am an Eagle Scout, and during a camp out in my Scouting days one of the adults had his Ham radio and we spoke to someone fairly far. I was, and still am, captivated with radio communications and other technologies. Ever since then (late 90s) I had wanted to earn my Ham license. Well, here I am.
In December 2023 I finally took the plunge and purchased my intial equipment which includes an IC-7300 and made my first QSOs in February 2024 from EL96. I logged eight incredibly charismatic and helpful contacts in the FN area, and one in Colorado./p>
On 8 May 2024, I upgraded to General, then a little more than three weeks later on 31 May 2024 I upgraded to Amateur Extra (and due to the ARRL system compromise, didn't get put in until mid June).
I travel a great deal, and am never in my QTH grid. As a result, all of my ops are /P or /M–be sure to ask for my grid if I don't give it!
I strive to 100% send QSL cards for phone QSOs, and I will send one on request for digital. Please note that I send them without an envelope, because I believe a well-worn QSL card is reflective of the varying propogation conditions we sometimes experience during a QSO. If a reasonable amount of time has passed and you haven't received yours, please let me know–I will absolutely send another, and another–as many as it takes (to a reasonable degree, of course).
